I believe positive reinforcement is not only the kindest way to train a dog, it is one of the safest and most rewarding. I will never use anything damaging or aversive with your dog. Instead, I help you and your best friend feel comfortable, able to express yourselves without shame, judgement or restriction, grow in confidence, and move forward together.
Dogs do not behave the way they do to be difficult. Behaviour is communication. Once you understand what your dog is telling you, everything else starts to fall into place, and that is the work I care about most.
I am a qualified and experienced force‑free, positive reinforcement trainer and behaviourist. I specialise in canine mental health, puppies, assistance and helper dogs, scent work and reactivity. I work with dogs other people have given up on, and I take real pride in showing owners there is a better way forward.
I keep learning because this field keeps moving, and the dogs I work with deserve approaches that reflect what we actually understand now, not what was assumed twenty years ago.

Sit Walk Stay is myself and Claire, who your dog will quickly decide is their second favourite thing in the world, right after you and treats. And of course Roary, who keeps the whole operation running on searches and building confidence in reactive dogs with his key stooge roll.
Here’s a bit about me.
Part time dog walker and training assistant
I first began volunteering to walk shelter greyhounds nearly 10 years ago, and my love of working with dogs has continued to grow ever since.
Before joining Sit Walk Stay, I previously ran my own dog walking business, but I jumped at the chance to join Sit Walk Stay to further develop my skills and experience and benefit from India’s mentoring and support. Alongside my part-time role with Sit Walk Stay, I am now in my final year of an MSc in Clinical Animal Behaviour with the University of Edinburgh.
My approach to dog care and training is centred around ethical, evidence-based and enjoyable experiences for both dog and owner.
I love being outdoors and connecting with nature, and I find it hugely rewarding to provide dogs with positive social experiences and exciting adventures. Seeing dogs play, sniff, explore and simply enjoy being dogs is one of my favourite parts of the job!
When I’m not at work, I enjoy caring for and training my two rescue horses (which I do using positive reinforcement), spending time with my wonderful husband of many, many years and our very special rescue cat at home, and doing a spot of gardening when I get a chance!
I’m a 5-year-old Cockapoo and, if you ask me, the best boy around! You might spot me on group walks, helping out in training sessions, starring in online demonstrations or simply supervising from the side-lines (usually hoping someone has snacks).
I was rehomed to India when I was just 12 months old, and from that moment our adventure really began.
Being a cross between two working breeds, I quickly taught India that simply exercising a dog isn’t enough. I needed the right outlets for my brain as much as my body. Together we discovered the importance of breed-specific fulfilment, enrichment and giving dogs a job that meets their natural instincts.
These days I’m probably one of the calmest Cockapoos you’ll ever meet, NOT because I’ve “grown out of it”, but because my needs are understood and met every single day.
I also have hip dysplasia, and although it hasn’t stopped me living life to the fullest, it has inspired India to learn everything she can about supporting dogs with chronic conditions. Together we’ve explored natural pain management, low-impact enrichment, appropriate exercise, strength and mobility work, and how nutrition can have a huge influence on both physical health and behaviour.
In fact, understanding how pain, diet and unmet needs can contribute to behaviours like reactivity has become one of India’s biggest passions, and one of the reasons she now specialises in helping reactive dogs.
Of course, I still have plenty of important jobs too! I help demonstrate training exercises, support nervous and reactive dogs as a calm helper, show other dogs how much fun learning can be, and I’m always happy to test out new enrichment ideas before anyone else.
I’m proof that with the right understanding, training and fulfilment, dogs can truly thrive.
Oh… and yes, I still get paid in snacks. I wouldn’t work for free 🦴🐶
